Glass Archipelago

exhibition, of the concessionary companies of the Veneto Region brand Vetro Artistico® Murano

For the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano we curated the presentation of the “Glass Archipelago” exhibition, of the concessionary companies of the Veneto Region brand Vetro Artistico® Murano, a true multimedia installation communicating the tradition of artistic glass of Murano in a completely innovative way. The exhibition represented the variety of the production of the Promovetro companies. It was a suspended structure inspired by the topography of Murano animated by multimedia devices to highlight new reflections, details and colours. In addition, it underlined the uniqueness of the objects on display and the high degree of professionalism of Murano artistic artisanship.

The exhibition was created with the contribution of the Veneto Region and the collaboration of Adiconsum Veneto. The architect Matteo Silverio and the visual artist Martin Romeo were creators of the installation.

The glasses were chosen ad hoc to represent the best of Murano’s artistic production. The suspended structure of the installation recalls the topography of the island of Murano: an archipelago of small and large entrepreneurial realities, connected to each other by the Promovetro “bridge”. Light was used as a metaphor for the work of the consortium, which has always had two main objectives: the fight against counterfeiting and the education of the visitor’s eye, so that it is able to recognize the mastery of artistry, a true treasure of Murano.
